Excel Hotsheets securely link up to seven queries of live employee data to an external spreadsheet, so you don't repeat calculations each time you run a query. For example, you can give a manager a holiday query for their direct reports.

📌Note: Excel Hotsheets don't work on macOS. On a Mac, create a Google Hotsheet instead.

You need the application programming interface (API) licence to use Hotsheets. Watch the video or follow the steps below:

  1. Create queries on the data you want to export.

  2. Create an API key with access to those queries.

  3. 📌Note: If you see a yellow pop-up, click Enable Content.

  4. In the spreadsheet, click the PEOPLEHR QUERIES tab.

  5. Click Settings, then paste your API key in the API KEY field.

  6. Type the query names exactly as they appear in PeopleHR.

📌Note: To give the person you share the file with up-to-date data each time they open it, click Auto Refresh.

  7. Click Save, then click Run All Queries in the top left.

Each query's data now appears in its own tab along the bottom.

📌Note: PeopleHR encrypts your API key when you share this sheet.
