If you are encountering this error when assigning a new work pattern to an employee, it is because the work pattern you are trying to assign is already pending, meaning it is already assigned with an effective date in the future.
To remove the future work pattern that is being applied, select the exclamation mark next to the work pattern drop-down field. This will show you the future work pattern applied with an x to the right of it.
Select onto the x to remove the future work pattern where you will then be able to apply another work pattern as desired.
