Question

Answer

When do we award the LOS balance?

Once employees hit their LOS, the extra days or hours earned add up to their annual leave entitlement on the first day of the new holiday year.

For example, you have a rule where you award the employee with one extra day when they have worked for your company for three years and your holiday year is January to December.

Your employee hits their third year anniversary on the 17 September. On that date, the rule triggers, but the extra day becomes available on 1 January.

Can I manually award LOS?

With the LOS rules, you only apply LOS days or hours to future trigger points such as start date anniversaries or any other point you set up for the rule.

If you missed the trigger point for a LOS rule, then, you can manually apply the LOS days or hours.

Why does the LOS not apply to the employee's entitlement?

Ensure you entered a maximum annual leave entitlement. Also, if the LOS award exceeds the maximum annual leave entitlement at the LOS anniversary, it won't apply to the employee's record
