To assign an employee to a 0 hour contract in the system you will first need to assign them to a no working pattern which will allow them to book holidays on any day of the week.
To assign an employee to a non working pattern follow the below:
Click Access Button
then click Employee.
Select the relevant employee then in their profile select Planner.
Select their current working pattern then select No work pattern from the drop down.
Fill out the relevant details and set Contracted Hours to 0.
Click Apply.
Whilst a 0 hour contract employee doesn't have their hours recorded in a work pattern they can submit timesheets for their working time.

In order for zero hour contract employees to book holidays in PeopleHR, you would need to add their accruals manually.
To do this, follow the steps below:
Click Access Button
then click Employee.
Select the relevant employee then in their profile select Planner.
Click Settings then click Measured in.
Select Hours then click on Full Time Entitlement and enter 0.
If you would like to allow the employee to book more than zero days, select the Accrue Entitlements and Exceed Allowance check boxes.
You will then need to assign an accrual rate, which is the percentage of hours the employee will have as entitlements, out of the overall worked hours.
πNote: The default percentage is 12.07%.
Click Access Button
then click HR Admin.
Click Settings then click Holidays & Absence.
You will be able to view your current Holiday Entitlement% and adjust the amount if you wish.
Add the working hours to the employee's record following the final steps below.
Click Access Button
then click HR Admin.
Click Bulk Actions, then click Holiday and Other Events.
Select Holiday Accruals then filter on the relevant employee.
Add the employee's work hours under the New Hours Worked field and click Save.
